taipeitaipeitaipeitaipei

Taipei 4 days of eat, walk, shop, eat, buy and buy....

First stop: Braised duck and noodles soup. Yummy! and its at XiMenDing... the duck was slightly tough cos i think its free range ducks. Unlike our S'pore soft meat duck.
That's the store name!
2nd Stop: pao pao bing~ its really like sorbet, i tried the pineapple one. And for NT$40, you get a really big cup!

Last stop: Fish House... i think last time it was a different name and on a different side of XiMenDing. I was looking up at the 2nd floor shophouses trying to look out for this man.. hahaa its gd that i found it. the bubble tea was just as good as before.... thick .
Now they have even more swings in the shop... it does look different right? the old location is now occupied by another hippy tea house with the swings still facing the window.. i recognised it cos it was just facing Mr Donut, a spot i remembered.

On our 2nd day, we took the mrt and stopped at Chiang Kai S. memorial hall station... that's a pic of the taipei theatre or sth... i only managed to take a few shots of it and i didnt even manage to see the CKS. memorial hall before my mom ran off to hail a cab. It was just too hot for her...
I researched for recommended eating places in taipei and i found this restaurant that serves gd xiaolong baos (other than din tai fung). Its called kao chi, supposedly a traditional restaurant. Below: fried savoury pastry (dont recall what's inside, heehee)

Xiaolong baos! but a disappointment to me... it was juicy, but not very flavourful.
Fried xiaolong baos... hahaha! we did have a mini xiao long bao feast.
i ate a little only and then refused to eat any more so my mom stuffed the paos into her tummy and leaving these skins behind... as evidence that there was just too much to eat. After lunch, we headed down to taipei 101

walked around, admire the branded stuff, bought my shoes n bag mag from pageOne.
Spotted cute melissa jelly shoes from Vivienne Westwood. that's some weird taiwanese food that tasted q nice. in the soup it looks like mee hoon kuey, but its chewy. a lil bland, and the fishcake is like tian bu la and tofu. this was at shinkong mitsuishi sth sth... building food court. haaaa

At night, we headed down to Shilin!
Bought this cake from 85deg C, the same store we bought from near our TS hotel. real cheap! $2.50? tsk... kiki reminded me that last time only she and me were crazy over the cakes we bought back to the hotel to eat. then perch n jenjen started indulging in our cakes too! haha

On our 3rd day, we visited JiuFen. More buying of snacks n eating

yummm, this must be some traditional dessert. its soybean curd and chewy sweet potato and yam topped with ice and a light ginger sugar syrup. was gd!
There were many old teahouses on the way down. We stopped at this old english teahouse for coffee. Pretty old house with a fantastic view..

okay, by now i think you'd be laughing at my facial expressions again....

Snowy ice dessert with fresh mangoes and strawberry and more chewy sweet ps. and yam. total yums... its at ximending.
On our last meal we had Fei Tian hotpot... look at the beef! a variety of choices incl. angus beef!
The ma la style was with coagulated blood ... slightly spicy. not the szechuan style. the buffet hotpot was real worth it. $18 and you get a variety of beef, mushrooms, seafood, balls and spare parts of the pig. plus! 6 flavours of haagan daz ice cream and fruits in season plus a fridge of drinks. slurps.
XOXO,
Soph

I really envy your jet setting lifestyle Soph. How lucky! I'm dreaming of a holiday already. LOL.
